During the 3 months or so you are without your dentures is a completely new experience.....
Your original teeth are the mainstay of the english language.....without teeth to stop your tongue, words do not sound the same.....those funny sounds coming forth from your mouth are accompanied by slobbering, and spitting, usually hitting the person standing in the vicinity of your mouth.
And, beware, while the healing process is great, it also changes the inside of your mouth.....and words you have said before are sounding different as the healing process continues.....
You will notice that there is a lot of room in your mouth.....removing all your teeth is like adding an extra room.....
After a while you get so you can talk again and people can understand what you are saying......you are still spitting and slobbering, but people have learned to stand back....
Eventually, the healing process is complete and its time for your new teeth.....
All that room you had is no longer there. The size of your mouth has shrunk a whole lot with your new dentures in place.....
Your new teeth have taken over the space and the process of learning to talk again becomes as dangerous as it was without your new teeth.....you remember.....spitting slobbering and a new addition.....whistling.....any word that starts and ends with "S" is accompanied with a slight whislting sound.....
And those big bites you used to shove in your mouth.....forget it!!!!! these dentures take up more room than the "original issue".....but alas!!!!! ya left them at the oral surgeons office never to be seen again.....
Another learn over again is the art of chewing.....I know you have done this all of your life, but with dentures its a different story.....Beware while you are chewing.....these dentures bite back.....things like your tongue or maybe your cheek and of course lets not forget the bloodied lip.....(I speak from experience.....)
Oh, and lest we forget.....in order for you to chew all the foods you like you must purchase something to hold them in place.....there are several brands available in several different flavors.....yuk, yukier and ick and ickier.....we use a pink, yucky flavored glue.....
All in all, having teeth again is worth all the trouble and time to learn again.....and those pounds you lost will suddenly appear again and the belt size will increase.....and quit your complaining.....you can use the extra pounds!!!!!
A TRUE RESCUER.....
Kudos to Jaon Dunham....
30 dogs, 29 hours, 1,100 miles.....Dunham leaves from the shelter
tuesday with her husband and 30 dogs in her RV. She's headed to the Seattle Humane Society, where the dogs stay only about two weeks before being adopted.....This will be her third trip.....
They are loaded up, some in individual kennels and some in larger kennels together.
Its about 1,100 miles. Our first trip we slept 2 hours and it took 29 hours. We're dealing with animals, so we just want to get them there as soon as possible.....
Anytime someone gets diarrhea or car sick, we pull over immediatly. Whether they get sick just depends on when they got fed at the shelter.....Young dogs get car sick more than the older dogs, so we don't get sick dogs very often.....
When we stop, people have asked if they can purchase the dogs from me.....People are completely and utterly amazed to see that many dogs and really touched to see what we're doing for the dogs....."No one says, "What a lunatic. "well, maybe after we're gone".....
Well, thats about all the news I have.....think I'll kick back and watch some tv until I get sleepy.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
