This page is dedicated to "Herbie" a long time and dedicated friend who went across the ranibow bridge after losing a battle with FIP.....feline infectous peritonitis.....
Vicious dogs in the neighborhood.....
If Kern County Animal Control had to witness attacks by wandering dogs in order to take meaningful action, we may as well forget about it. Especially if after we call them they don't even want to get out of their vehicle.....
More then 4.5 million Americans are bitten each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Thousands are mauled so badly, they require reconstructive surgery.
And closer to home, the threat of dog bites and loose dogs can affect perceptions of safety in your own neighborhood.
While pitbulls are clearly a problem as biters, the high number of reported bites by the breed is also a function of its hugh popularity in most neighborhoods.....
With so many pitbulls in area households, its sure to skew the statistics upward.....
But there's also a tendency among some cultures to trian pitbulls to be aggressive.....
DOG BITES BY BREED (kern county) jan. 1, 2007 - sept. 14, 2009
Pitbull.....389
Mixbreed.....254
German Shepherd.....140
Chihuaua.....110
Labradore Retriever.....108
These are just a few reported bites.....How many go unreported.....
There are a few safety rules to restrain your pet.....
Keep him or her behind fences and on leash
Socialize your pet by taking it to the park.....obdedience classes or walks in your neighborhood and allow it to interact with other animals.....
Spay or neuter your pet.....
Supervise.....Any sign of snapping or growling at family members or strangers could be a sign your dog needs behavioral training.....
THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING A GREAT JOB.....
Pilots save shelter animals.....
Pilots N Paws got its start in Feb 2008.....A Knoxville, Tenn., pilot named Jon Wehrenberg had offered to fly his friend, from her home near Greenville, SC, down to Florida to pick up a dog she wanted to adopt from a rescue group.....Jon asked if there was a regular need for such services.....
The reply....."you have no idea of the need for this type of rescue....." Rescue groups have long moved animal from high kill shelters around the country, but it usually invloves long, exhausing car trips.....
The Web site for Pilots N Paws now serves as a forum where shelters and rescue groups can hook up with pilots.....
680 pilots have already transported thousands of animals all over the country..... Many were plucked from death row at overpopulated, high kill shelters in southern states, where people are less likely to spay or neuter their pets.....
A rescue animal thats had a living hell for a life and now has a warm and loving home.....they look at you differently.....its just hard to explain.....

MOM.....I'M HOME.....
Australian cat stray 2400 miles, then returns home.....
Hobart, Australia.....A cat named Clyde was reunited with his owner after a mysterious three-year odessy in which the long-haired Himalayan strayed 2400 miles into the Australin Outback....
The owner said she had given up hope of ever finding Clyde after he vanished when he was about a year old from her family home near Hobart City in Australis island state of Tasmania.....
A nurse found Clyde wandering at a hospital in the remote Queensland state town of Cloncurry and cared for him for four months before taking him to a local vet as she was leaving town and could not take Clyde with her.....
A vet traced Clydes owner from an identification microchip that was embedded under the cats skin.....
But no one has a clue how Clyde managed the 185 mile sea journey across the Bass Strait from Tasmania off mainland Australias southeast coast, and then about more than 2000 miles overland to Cloncurry, deep in the arid interior of the Outback.....
An animal transport company returned Clyde to Hobart for free.....
'ATTA BOY CLYDE.....
Its about time to put the keyboard to rest and go sit my rear-end on the couch for some serious tv watching.....
What a let down....."Homeward Bound Kittens" had no tricker treaters this year.....guess I'll have to eat all the candy myself.....well, somebody has to do it.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
Hi there.....its been a while since I've been here.....lots of things happening around "Homeward bound kittens".....We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen
We have been wanting a new stove since we moved in here and got the opportunity last weekend at a yard sale.....a stove and a refridgerator for $50.00.....a friend and neighbor bought the fridge for $40.00....and we got a good stove for $10.00
When we got it home we realized that it just didn't match the decor of the kitchen.....
The stove we are using is a counter top and the oven(we call it the cyclopes) is a big ugly looking green thing with this eye right in the middle.....if the oven light is on and all other lights are out it looks like a bloodshot eyeball.....
But with a little work.....sanding, painting and a little tlc, we will have a better kitchen.....kitty shelfs and assorted kitty toys will also be added.....
The big hole where the cyclopes once resided has been changed into a cabinet with assorted sizes of shelfs.....
"HOMEWARD BOUND KITTENS" UPDATE.....
Ethele.....one of our resident momma cats..... gave birth to three of the cutest little russian blue kittens.....we thought she would have more by the size of her belly.....but these were pretty hefty kittens.....
MORE TAXES FOR THE GOOD GUYS TO PAY.....
It seems that the Kern County Board of Equalization has decided to tax pet owners if they decide to sell their pets.....Owners and breeders will be required to report all sales and will be allowed only three sales per year.....This is all well and fine except that the underground breeders still will not pay anything.....as usual the good guys lose again.....Some of the legal breeders say this tax is unfair and should not be allowed.....Staff at the sanctuary also agree that this tax is unfair.....WHY DO THE GOOD GUYS ALWAYS HAVE TO PAY?????
What's next on there agenda.....how about taxing everyone that breeds anything.....rabbits, pigs, birds, and yes.....even you guppy breeders will have to pay a tax.....ISN'T THERE ENOUGH TAXES TO PAY?????
The Kern County Board of supervisors has again delayed any decision on any animal ordinances until late Sept.
It is the opinion of this writer that nothing will ever got done if first they don't settle their petty squabbles.....
This is what is wrong with the way this country is being run.....if the upper echilons of the government would settle their petty squabbles, maybe this country could get back on track.....
That's about all the news.....maybe more next time.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
Litter box odor has long been a problem and there has usually been one way of getting rid of that smell, and that's to throw away the litter box.....A staff member here at "Homeward Bound Kittens" has found a great way of cleaning litter boxes and also save the expense of purchasing a new litter box....Are you ready for this solution to the smell and cleaning it so it looks new.....I know this will be hard to believe and I was skeptical of the method.....How about an ordinary can of oven cleaner!!!!!
Use it as you would when cleaning your oven.....spray around the edges and the sides and bottom.....let stand until the spray has filled the bottom of the litter box.....empty.....rinse with cold water, and presto.....a nice, clean, ordorless litter box.....
Not much going on around the old Sanctuary.....everything is running smoothly, all critters have been "fixed" and our population is under control thanx to the people at Fabulous felines in San Diego.....
Lets remember that its hot out there and our furry friends need cold water and cool places to sleep.....if your pet is panting they are too hot and need some cooling off help.....
"Homeward Bound Kittens" is having a yard sale and will also have our candy machines in place.....with all proceeds going for the spay and neuter of our local cats and kittens.....
Its getting late on my end and its been a long day.....its time to shut down, plant my butt in front of the tv, and relax witha beer or two.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
GUANGZHOU, CHINA.....One-dog policy in Chines city forces tough decisions.....Can you imagine having to give up one of your pets that you have had for years.....tough decisions, are being made in this Chinese city because of a new law imposed on the people of of this city.....they must give up one or more of their pets....."It's a cruel regulation.....These dogs are like family.....beginning July 1st each household can raise only one dog.....
The regulations appears to be part of an effort to control stray dogs in Guangzhou, once known as Canton.....
They have the same problem as we do in this country.....they fail to spay/neuter their pets and sooner than you realize the animal population has grown to enormous numbers.....
Another thing we have in common with our across the sea pet lovers.....dog owners in the city aren't sure if the one-dog policy will be strictly enforced.....Just like in this country.....often authoritys announce a tough new law, lauch a crackdown, then ignore the measure.....
One of the major problems with their new law......what are they going to do with the over-abundance of dogs?.....do they have the facilitys to house this many animals?.....do they even have a spay/neuter program?.....
But.....there is always the fact that the Chinese people are masters at finding loopholes and other ways to skirt around laws.....
On this.....I wish them all the luck in the world....."HOMEWARD BOUND KITTENS" IS ON YOUR SIDE.....
How about a short peom.....?
A KITTEN
He's nothing much but fur
And two round eyes of blue
He has a giant purr
And a midget mew
He darts and pats the air
He tarts and cocks his ear
When there is nothing to hear
He runs around in rings
But why we cannot tell
With sideways leaps he springs
At invisible things
Then halfway through a leap
His startle eyeballs close
And he drops off to sleep
With one paw on his nose.....
Its summer time again and time to make nice shady places for our furry friends.....Be sure to keep lots of cool water and maybe some mist for them to cool off.....My outside cats enjoy the misters we installed in our covered patio....
We have expanded our income and gone into the candy machine business. We have invested in five candy machines.....not the big vending machines, but the little 25 cent and 50 cent machines.....all proceeds go into a spay/neuter fund for the local neighborhood kittys.....We have named our new businees.....SAVE-A-KITTY KANDY KOMPANY.....
And it's getting hot in this office.....our air conditioner decided to take some time off.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
Three adults plan to rob a bank.....all the details of the carefully planned robbery seem to be in order.....the getaway car is full of gas.....the getaway route carefully planned and the hideout was selected months ago.....
On the day of the holdup the driver parks his car in a place where it won't arouse any attention.....the driver waits in the car while the other two enter the bank and announce, "this is a holdup, everyone get on the floor.....!!!"
During the holdup a bank employee pushes the alarm and was shot and killed by "one" of the robbery suspects.....
Upon leaving the bank all 3 suspects were captured, put in jail, sent to trial, and all three were found guilty of murder and robbery and were sent to prison for the rest of their life.....EVEN THOUGH ONLY "ONE" PULLED THE TRIGGER, THE OTHER TWO HELPED LOAD THE GUN....." This is guilt by association.....
This is the same with animal control officers.....when you pick up a stray and place them in your vehicle, you didn't pull the trigger, but you sure enough loaded the gun.....Guilt by association.....
Animal control officers will sometimes tell you that they only have one dog or one cat.....well maybe, just maybe, if you adopted more than one pet, you wouldn't have to load the gun so often.....
Euthanization rates climb every year.....its the same story over and over again.....we don't have enough money to house all these animals....."YA ALL HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO MURDER THEM....." Why not take some of that money and build more kennels, create a more effective foster care program, and pass a regulation that states each veterinarian will donate a day each month to a cost-free spay/neuter program for low income family's that can't afford to pay for their already high-priced fees.....
I just let my fingers do the walking through the yellow pages of our local directory.....I didn't count the total vets there are in this area (Kern County, California) but I'm quite sure that there are enough that maybe they might have to give their services about every 3-4 months....one day isn't going to infringe on the profits one little bit.....
If you're reading this entry and you live in a "Kill Zone" check the yellow pages in your local area and see if you don't come to the same conclusion.....
"KILL ZONES"
Do you live in a "KILL ZONE"? A "KILL ZONE" is any county that routinely "humanly euthanizes" there over abundance of cats and dogs.....
"Homeward Bound Kittens" is conducting a survey.....We would like to know if you live in a "KILL ZONE" and what is the average yearly kill rate.....
We also want to know what the average yearly kill rate is nation-wide.....
Kern County is a "KILL ZONE" with an annual average of 20,000+/-
Imagine a nation with 50, 75, 100 "KILL ZONES....."
With 100 "KILL ZONES" that would be an average of 200,000 pets murdered each year.....
THIS CAN'T CONTINUE
"KILL ZONES" should be required to iniate programs to help the fur people.....instead, they find ways to stop the rescuers from helping with the problem.....why is this?????
I'll tell you why.....
Its easier to kill, than to sit down and work out a feasable solution.....its all about the almighty dollar.....
If its a matter of money, maybe animal control and the spca should do like the underground rescuers do.....we hold yard sales and donate all the proceeds to a spay/neuter fund for the kitty's and cats in our neighborhood.....and to help with medication for our sick fur people.....
A helpful hint.....we order all our medication online.....its cheaper.....some pet medications require a prescription from your vet, so you might work out the details with him/her.....
If ya' all have any info on the yearly kill rate in your area you can e-mail the infor to.....
homewardboundkitty@sbcglobal.net
or use the tag board.....any info will be greatly appreciated.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
www.fabulousfelines.blogspot.com is a San Diego based cat rescue group operated by a nice lady named Donita.....has rescued HOMEWARD BOUND KITTENS from a complete disaster.....due to a rash of upper respitory infection and ringworm we had over fifty cats and various aged kittens.....Fabulous Felines rescued four mommas and seventeen baby kittens and will find them good forever homes in the San Diego area.....
This and many more rescue groups are out there and are working to save as many kittys as possible.....Thank God for these organizations.....
HOMEWARD BOUND KITTENS would like to express their thanks and wish you all the continued success of being a cat rescuer.....and the same thanks to all other "underground" rescuers.....
DEFINE KENNEL.....
Kern county seems to be the hotspot for animal abusers and animal rescuers with most of the trouble spots seems to be Tehachapi and surrounding area.....
Animal abuser Cynthia Gudger is from this area and so is another rescuer thats in trouble with Animal Control......
County Supervisors will take up the case of animal rescuer Kimi Peck.....Kern Countys Engineering and Survey Service Dept. say approximately 170 dogs reside in a house south of Tehachapi.....
Kimi Peck was married to Gregory Pecks son.....She grew up in Hollywood and writes stage and screen plays.....
She insists that her dogs are privately owned and therefore has a right to keep her dogs.....
Kern County says that as soon as she put her pets up for adoption on the internet she was required to have a kennel license.....
ATTENTION ALL HIT AND RUN JERKS.....
JERK # 1 You know who you are.....You're the person (and I use the word "person" because this is an open blog and children might be tuned in.....) who runs down peoples pets with your vehicle and continue on down the road without giving it a second thought.....Does this ring a bell JERK.....Do you realize that you just murdered someones cherished pet.....????? Oh, sorry, thats right.....you're a jerk and jerks have no fellings.....
JERK # 2 The hipocrite jerk.....is the same as above except for one variation.....The hipocrite jerk reports the other jerks for not stopping when the rundown his cherished pet.....
STEM CELLS.....
This research seems to have reached the animal kingdom with some great results.....
The therapy is gaining momentum as a treatment option for pets.....But it is also holds promise for humans.....
Although still in the early stages in its use with more than 1500 dogs and cats since marketing began last year, the therapy is being embraced by pet owners.....
Its anybodys guess what the scientific world will dream up next to help our helpless pets.....
That's about all the news for now.....ya' all be sure to tune into www.fabulousfelines.blogspot.com to see the cats and kittens this rescue group has that are ready for forever homes.....maybe one is the right one for you.....
A happy Easter to all.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
Animal abuser Cynthia Gudger has been found incompetent to stand trial by a court-appointed Doctor.....The judge overturned the Drs. diagnosis and asked for a second opinion.....If the second Dr. finds her competent to stand trial, then there will be a trial to find out if she is competent or incompetent to stand trial.....
Lets assume that the second drs. opinion is the same as the first Drs. opinion.....will the court appoint another Dr. and another Dr. until one finds her competent to stand trial.....
If a trial is convened and the jury finds her incompetent to stand trial, will the presiding judge also aske for a "second opinion".....
UPDATE.....Cynthia Gudger has been charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty and one count of threatening her court-appointed attorney.....
***For further updates please refer to previous entrys.....
Cynthia gudger's next court appearence is scheduled for March 11.....This should be an interesting appearence.....she has a tendency to get quite vocal.....
The sad part of this whole case is that Cynthia Gudger will do more time for threatening her attorney than she will for the animal abuse.....
.....................
ANIMAL REGULATION AGAIN.....
Not much different in this new regulation.....the end results will be the same......the good guys will pay again.....only more this time.....and the bad guys will keep on with their puppy mills until animal controls shuts them down.....this is like the g-men looking for the rum runners in the mountains of some southern state.....
This time its called "The Pet Responsibility Act".....The law is designed to increase owner responsibility and reduce the $250 million annual cost of euthanizing animals in California.....
Opponents say it would only impact responsible owners because the irresponsible ones would simply not comply.....
This is the ongoing problem and it doesn't look like there is any answer in the near future.....
........................
MEXICO.....The brutal deaths of more than two dozen dogs and cats kept for years in a cramped, feces-stained apartment have sparked outrage in Mexico City, where authorities and animal activists traded accusations over who was to blame.....
"Homeward Bound Kittens" suggests a "LOT OF ANIMAL CONTROL REGULATIONS"....sorry, didn't mean to yell, but that answer seems like a no-brainer.....
.......................
A CLOSING THOUGHT.....
HAPPY TO BE AN OLD FART.....
I remember when you could look all around your backyard and see forever. I remember when my garden was yours and your garden was mine. I remember when your dog knew mine and any stranger that came into our neighborhood was--well. the dogs got excited and we got the chance to see who it was.....
I remember when a backyard barbecue was attended by everyone. I remember when, if your car didn't run, then I would let you use mine or get you there myself--and then, boy howdy, we would work together to get yours to run.
I remember when my football went too far, and I didn't have to ask to get it back. I remember that most of our conflicts were started by our kids. I remember when my daughter would come home from a date and said he tried this and that and she told him where to go. She would say: Thanks dad.
I guess I just remember when people really cared about people......
To justify this letter, my opinion is.....We screwed up!!!!!
Hey, thanks for listening.....I guess I love being an old fart because how else could I have these great memories.....

Hey, ya all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
During the 3 months or so you are without your dentures is a completely new experience.....
Your original teeth are the mainstay of the english language.....without teeth to stop your tongue, words do not sound the same.....those funny sounds coming forth from your mouth are accompanied by slobbering, and spitting, usually hitting the person standing in the vicinity of your mouth.
And, beware, while the healing process is great, it also changes the inside of your mouth.....and words you have said before are sounding different as the healing process continues.....
You will notice that there is a lot of room in your mouth.....removing all your teeth is like adding an extra room.....
After a while you get so you can talk again and people can understand what you are saying......you are still spitting and slobbering, but people have learned to stand back....
Eventually, the healing process is complete and its time for your new teeth.....
All that room you had is no longer there. The size of your mouth has shrunk a whole lot with your new dentures in place.....
Your new teeth have taken over the space and the process of learning to talk again becomes as dangerous as it was without your new teeth.....you remember.....spitting slobbering and a new addition.....whistling.....any word that starts and ends with "S" is accompanied with a slight whislting sound.....
And those big bites you used to shove in your mouth.....forget it!!!!! these dentures take up more room than the "original issue".....but alas!!!!! ya left them at the oral surgeons office never to be seen again.....
Another learn over again is the art of chewing.....I know you have done this all of your life, but with dentures its a different story.....Beware while you are chewing.....these dentures bite back.....things like your tongue or maybe your cheek and of course lets not forget the bloodied lip.....(I speak from experience.....)
Oh, and lest we forget.....in order for you to chew all the foods you like you must purchase something to hold them in place.....there are several brands available in several different flavors.....yuk, yukier and ick and ickier.....we use a pink, yucky flavored glue.....
All in all, having teeth again is worth all the trouble and time to learn again.....and those pounds you lost will suddenly appear again and the belt size will increase.....and quit your complaining.....you can use the extra pounds!!!!!
A TRUE RESCUER.....
Kudos to Jaon Dunham....
30 dogs, 29 hours, 1,100 miles.....Dunham leaves from the shelter
tuesday with her husband and 30 dogs in her RV. She's headed to the Seattle Humane Society, where the dogs stay only about two weeks before being adopted.....This will be her third trip.....
They are loaded up, some in individual kennels and some in larger kennels together.
Its about 1,100 miles. Our first trip we slept 2 hours and it took 29 hours. We're dealing with animals, so we just want to get them there as soon as possible.....
Anytime someone gets diarrhea or car sick, we pull over immediatly. Whether they get sick just depends on when they got fed at the shelter.....Young dogs get car sick more than the older dogs, so we don't get sick dogs very often.....
When we stop, people have asked if they can purchase the dogs from me.....People are completely and utterly amazed to see that many dogs and really touched to see what we're doing for the dogs....."No one says, "What a lunatic. "well, maybe after we're gone".....
Well, thats about all the news I have.....think I'll kick back and watch some tv until I get sleepy.....
Ya' all have a great rest of the day.....and a better tomorrow.....ttfn.....Reid and Debbie
In late Sept. my adventure with a local dentist went into full swing.....My first visit was to have a tooth extracted and to set appoinments for future dental work.....(this is a way of saying, "I need every tooth in my mouth pulled, yanked, removed on a permanent basis.....)
After many x-rays the dentist told me that I had floating bones in both sides of my lower jaw that had to be removed before my dentures would fit properly......
They referred me to an oral surgeon.....
ADVENTURES WITH MEDI-CAL AND MEDICARE.....
As most of you know, there are glitches in any system.....with both medi-cal and medicare it seemed I was in a "Catch 22" situation
Debbie called the referal oral sugeon only to be told, "that if I have both medi-cal and medicare that their policy is to first bill medicare we which refused service and therefore you have entered the "Catch 22" situation.....
After calls to the few oral sugeons locally and we got the same situation.....we only had two other alrenatives and that was UCLA Medical center or an oral surgeon in Fresno.....both costly trips.....
We gave this a lot of thought over the next three weeks and decided on Fresno.....
The following week my dentist called and wanted to know what the hold up was and I explained the situation and he said he never heard of such a policy and referred me to another local oral surgeon.....This was on a wednesday.....
Debbie called and was informed that "yes" they do take medi-cal - even with medicare....."yes".....they also never heard of such a policy.....they set an appointment for the next day for complete oral surgery.....
At 1:00 pm the next day, they put me in a chair, strapped me in and inserted a needle in my arm.....I asked the dentist if that was the drug used to put me to sleep.....he said "yep".....I turned my head and the next thing I knew, I woke up at 4:30 in the afternoon, on my couch at home.....I don't remember a thing after the dentist said "yep".....
REST AND RECOVERY
I reclined on the couch for three days recovering.....I took 750 mg vycodin like they were ju-ju b's.....There were enough stitches in my mouth to knit a small sweater.....
The following week they removed the stitches and sent me home to heal.....
A new time in your life is about to begin.....you no longer have no, none, any teeth to chew with.....all those delicious foods.....steak, lobster and your favorite super duper, triple pattyed double bacon cheese burger are no longer within your grasp.....
You start eating soft foods.....beans, pancakes, fench toast, lots of different hot cereals, scrambled eggs.....It takes about 8 weeks to heal.....hey folks, it's a great way to diet.....after the first 3 weeks you start to notice a change in your belt size.....but don't dwell on the weight loss.....you could probably use it.....
Another four weeks of appointments of imressions, fittings, more impressions you walk out of the dentist office with a brand new set of teeth.....
It felt great leaving the dentist office with a brand new smile.....this was at 9:00 am - at 5:30 that afternoon I was on the couch with a temp of 101.....with all the symptoms that go with a good case of the stomach flu.....
"MURPHYS LAW DOES EXIST....."
WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ WILL RUN CHILLS UP AND DOWN YOUR SPINE.....
CHINA'S CAT LOVERS PROTEST BUTCHERING.....Animals rounded up and shipped for food.....
GUANGZHOU, China.....While animal lovers in Beijing protested the killing of cats for food, a butcher in Guangdong province - where felines are the main ingredient in a favorite soup - just shrugged her shoulders and wielded her cleaver.....
It was just this attitude that outraged cat lovers who unfurled banners in protest outside the Guangdong government office in Beijing.....it was stated that strays were being rounded up by dealers.....
A Guangdong newspaper, famous for its exposes and aggressive reporting, ran a story that said about 1,000 cats were transported by train each day to Guangdong.....
Animal protection groups have occasionally ambushed truck convoys loaded with bamboo cages filled with cats bound for Guangdong.....In one recent case, hundreds of cats escaped after their cages were opened, though hundreds more remained penned in the vehicle.....
China has no animal protection laws, and throughout the country scores of cats and dogs are bred or rounded up, crammed onto trucks and driven for days under hellish conditions to animal markets, where they are beaten to death, strangled or boiled alive.....
Guangdong is home to the Cantonese people, famous for being the most adventurous eaters in China.....
LETS MOVE ON TO HAPPIER NEWS.....
How about some pet resolutions.....
I vow to be on my best behavior on all trips I take with my human. I will be obedient whether it is a trip to the market, to gramdmas house, the pet store, or even a weekend getaway!!!!!
CAT NEW YEARS RESOLUTION.....
1. I will not mark my territory in my humans house by urinating in every possible place.....
2. I will not use my humans couch as a scratching post no matter how bored I get.....
3. When my human is typing at the computer, her forearms are not a hammock.....
4. I will not scratch or run when my human is doing their duty of clipping my claws.....
DOG NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS.....
1. I will no longer linger at the dining table in an act to receive table scraps from my humans plate....Nor will I lick my owner plate clean
2. I will no longer have a fit every time it is time to have my teeth brushed.....My human is only looking out for my hygiene and the well being of my future.....
3. I will no longer hunt the kitchen cabinets in a desperate attempt to sneak some snacks.....I will obdiently and patiently wait for my human to supply me with a tasteful healthy treat.....
4. I vow to be more active and engage in all pet exercises, activities, and walks to my best ability.....
I've been long winded enough tonight.....I have a lot more pet news for the next blog entry.....so, ya' all come back now, ya' hear.....
YA' ALL HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE DAY.....AND A BETTER TOMORROW.....TTFN.....REID AND DEBBIE
It seems our local animal abuser doesn't like her jail conditions.....She says, and I quote "I've been beaten and tased at Lerdo Jail.....Lerdo Jail is Kern County's holding faciltiy.....
CYNTHIA GUDGER.....they have decided this is her real name.....
A psychiatrist charged with determining whether accused animal abuser Cynthia Gudger is mentally competent to stand trial will have another 30 days to get the job done.....a Kern County Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday.....
In court last Tuesday, Gudger demanded access to a phone at the jail, claiming she is on 24 hour lock down.....
Gudger faces 10 counts of felony animal cruelty after she was found living in filthy conditions among sick and dead animals in Tehachapi (California).....Animal Control officers seized 34 cats and 18 dogs and found 12 animal carcasses in her freezer.....
If she is found to be competent, she could be commited temporarily to a psychiatric hospital, outpatient treatment or a live-in treatment facility.....
After weighing all the options and going thru all the pros and cons of this lady's situation the staff at Homeward Bound Kittens has come to the conclusion that this women is nuts and should be LOCKED UP.....
CHILE HAS A HERO.....
An apparently homeless dog that pulled the body of another dog through traffic off a busy highway.....A surveillance camera on a Santiago freeway captured images of a dog trotting past speeding cars to pull the lifeless body of the other canine, which had been run over by a vehicle, away from traffic and onto the median strip.....
THE STORY OF INDY.....(a very lucky kitty)(part 1)
This story is from our local newspaper in the "YOU REPORT" section.....
On Nov. 11 at about 9:30 a.m. I was preparing to turn right from Oak Street onto Rosedal/178, when I saw something that caused me to bite my knuckles so hard that I drew blood.....
A tiny black kitten was racing, terrified, between cars in the congested intersection, trying desperatly to get out of the road to safety. I saw the poor little baby nearly become road pizza four times before I was able to park my car on the roadside, jump our and run into the road after him.....
To the credit of the other drivers on the street, most had slowed or stopped in an effort to avoid the kitten. I realized I was a much bigger target to avoid and hoped that if they had not seen the kitten, at least they couldn't miss seeing me.....
Now, while this may sound insane to most people, this is nothing unusual fir me. I have been doing pet rescue for years, primarily cats, and I have no qualms about crawling into sticky situations when the life of a pet is in jeopardy.....
I realize that not everyone would go to these lenghts for an animal, and especially one they do not know. On this particular morning, I was not the only one who was running into the intersection.....(end of part one....) to be continued in tomorrows entry.....
Also.....HOMEWARD BOUND KITTENS GIVES A TOUR OF THE FACILITY TO OUR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL.....WITH GREAT RESULTS.....
